Tay gets jumped on the way to school and has to work with Nat Ray to identify the attacker while watching him and Eddie bond over their police work. Nat Ray attends a veteran support group and befriends a wheelchair-bound veteran to whom he admits that he’s been contemplating reenlistment. The Suttons join the neighborhood in telling FEMA that they never received their checks from the earthquake, but it turns out they were all scammed and someone else actually cashed their checks. Jenn goes to FEMA with information on Wilkes, the scam artist, to no avail, causing her and the neighborhood watch group to catch him in the act on their own. While in custody, Wilkes reveals that there is a bounty on the Sutton family through Bishop, who escaped during a prison transfer after the earthquake. Eddie warns his family and gets to Lizzie before she’s attacked. The perp tells him that Bishop has been hanging out at a veterans support group and Eddie realizes he’s after Nat Ray too. At the support group Bishop has transformed back to his old self and is about to shoot Nat Ray, when Eddie shows up just in time. Nat Ray informs the family that he’s re-enlisted. Marla returns from Hawaii and finds the money Charles has been hiding and hopes that they can use it to move. Charles makes up his mind when she seems to be planning mainly for her instead of them as a family, and secretly leaves the money on the Sutton’s front porch for them to find.
