Has aspireTV inspired you to celebrate Black culture in new ways?

aspireTV has definitely played a role in inspiring me to celebrate black culture in new ways. When you have a network dedicated to broadcasting our many talents, it gives us/me an extra boost of confidence and pride. Thank you aspireTV!

When was the first time you saw yourself represented on TV?

When I saw Debbie Allen dance on Fame, I saw myself in her essence. The theme song resonated with me in a way I only NOW understand, “Fame, I’m gonna live forever, I’m gonna learn how to fly.” I’m 51 years young and still dance my ass off!

I saw myself represented in the tv series with Diahann Carroll called “Julia”. As a 9 yr old, it was something I looked forward to watching every week.

The first time I saw myself represented on TV is when “Girlfriends” premiered on UPN and TONY CHILDS entered the scene! The skin, the lips, the attitude! I saw finally saw myself!

Cinderella with Whitney Houston and Brandy was the moment I realized, that could be me. I could be in the arts.

The first time I saw myself on tv was the era of Bet 106 & Park. I would tune in every day 6pm sharp just so that I can watch AJ and Free premiere all of the Hip hop and R&B top ten on the chart music videos, as well as have special guest!
