Another musical genius gone way too soon.

Andrea Martin, the singer and songwriter responsible for some of our favorite R&B hits, is dead at age 49.

While her cause of death is unknown, the news was shared in an Instagram story post from the late musician’s account.

“Dear Family and Friends, it is with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of our beautiful Andrea Martin also known as ‘Annie,'” read the post. “Andrea will always be remembered for her passion and dedication to her family and friends. A legend indeed.

Martin is the visionary behind R&B classics including En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go,” SWV’s “You’re The One,” Monica’s “Before You Walk Out Of My Life,” and a host of other hits.

She also wrote for artists like Adina Howard, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Leela James, and more.

In addition to her work as a songwriter, Martin was an artist herself. In 1998, she produced her own album, “The Best of Me,” topping the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Dance Charts with her songs, “Let Me Return The Favor” and “Share The Love.”

Those who worked alongside Martin over the years took to social media to pay tribute to the late legend.

“‘Before You Walk Out Of My Life’ has always had a special place in my heart,” wrote Monica in a tweet. “Now it has a deeper meaning for the incredibly talented songwriter. Rest well, Andrea Martin. We love you always.”

Her longtime songwriting partner, Ivan Matias also paid tribute to Martin via Instagram.

“We are all special in some way, but Andrea Martin was extraordinarily special,” he wrote. “Her spirit was infused into each lyric and melody she blessed us with. Our connection was a divine union. We went to school together & had no idea that soon after, we’d be brought together as partners, co-writers & friends through adulthood. She brought out the best in me and everyone she worked with. We laughed, cried, fought & loved hard. She was a blessing to everyone around her in ways no one will ever know. She taught me about life, love, loyalty & of course music. Her musical genius lives on in the songs she contributed to the soundtrack of all our lives. Laguardia High School Alumni. Phenomenal Singer/Songwriter. She was one of a kind. The most talented female writer I’ve ever known. Her musical instinct & passion remain unmatched. Gone too soon.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Andrea Martin’s loved ones.
