Queen Bey is back! As fans anticipate the release of Beyoncé’s forthcoming Renaissance album, the Houston native blessed fans with a new track, “Break My Soul.”
The new song gives a nod to house music, a genre that is so near and dear to the culture’s heart and the track that the Houston native sampled to bring the song to life is giving flowers to a legend in the space. Robin S.’s 1993 “Show Me Love” is the inspiration for the new song. The beloved house artist expressed how much the new song means to her during an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (June 22).
“This is Robin S, and this message goes out to the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, to Jay-Z, to the entire team,” she said during her interview. “Thank you so much for giving me my flowers while I’m still alive. I am honored, and I’m excited to see what else can happen.
Robin first learned of her song’s placement on the new single thanks to her son who revealed that it was all over the internet.
“My son called me and he’s like, ‘Mom, mom. You’re trending all over the place,’” she continued. “You know, Beyoncé put her song out and it’s ‘Show Me Love’, and you’re trending everywhere.’”
While there wasn’t any formal contact or connection between the “Crazy in Love” songstress and the house musician extraordinaire, she revealed “it doesn’t have to be confirmed. A singer knows her songs.”
Furthermore, Robin expressed that it would be a dream come true to work alongside the superstar in the near future saying “that’s always the dream.”
“Break My Soul” was released on the same day that kicked off the summer solstice leaving fans to think that the upcoming album just might bring the joy the world needs just in time for the season! Renaissance is set to be released on July 29.
