Bill Cosby could soon be a free man!
CNN reports the comedian and actor is set to be released from prison after Pennsylvania’s highest court vacated both his conviction and judgement of sentence.
Per the majority opinion, “Cosby’s convictions and judgment of sentence are vacated and he is discharged.”
He was sentenced in 2018 to 3 to 10 years in state prison for drugging and sexually assaulting actress Andrea Constand at his home in 2004.
“We believe that he will be released from prison this afternoon,” said Cosby’s lawyer in an interview with CNN.
The news comes on the heels of the decision to deny Cosby’s parole back in May.
In a detailed letter, it explained that Cosby had to “participate in and complete additional institutional programs.” The board also cited the former “Cosby Show” star’s “failure to develop a parole release plan” along with a “negative recommendation by the Department of Corrections” as reasons for the decision.
Now, the man, once known as “America’s Dad,” could soon be free after being convicted and sentenced three years ago. Cosby was the first high-profile celebrity to stand trial during the #MeToo era.
Do you agree with the court’s decision for Bill Cosby to walk away as a free man?
