His parents, Bobby Brown and Kim Ward, have spoken out and said their son was “not into drugs.”
“Bobby was often easily influenced,” said Ward in a statement. “This is a situation where he associated himself with the wrong people. My son is gone and those who contributed to his senseless death should be held accountable.”
According to the family’s attorney, Christopher Brown, they believe that Brown Jr. might have consumed the fentanyl “without his knowledge,” which in turn killed him.
“My family continues to mourn my son’s death,” said Brown, 52, in an interview with PEOPLE. “Street fentanyl has taken the lives of so many people unnecessarily and Bobby Jr. is another victim. This epidemic is out of control and those supplying this lethal drug should be held responsible for the death and destruction that it causes.”
The attorney also shared that Brown. Jr. had trace amounts of other drugs in his system and that fatal amounts of fentanyl were found in his blood and heart.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the entire Brown family during this time.
