These men deserve all the awards!
After helping to get us through 2020, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and D-Nice should be contenders for the Nobel Peace Prize to be frank.
Their cultural movements not only helped get us through the pandemic last year, but now it’s earned them the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) ‘Voice Of The Culture’ award.
“The award, presented to ASCAP members who have had a major influence on music and culture, will recognize their success as creators of Verzuz and Club Quarantine, two virtual events that became touchstones of empowerment through music during the pandemic,” said ASCAP in a press release.
All three will be honored with the award during the 2021 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards on June 22nd.
Thanks to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, the epic Verzuz battles emerged out of the quarantine and continue to allow the culture to present legends with well-deserved flowers.
So far we’ve witnessed match-ups between greats like Babyface and Teddy Riley, Earth Wind & Fire and the Isley Brothers, and the late DMX and Snoop Dogg.
On the other hand, D-Nice kept us entertained for the entire quarantine and beyond with feel-good music played through his Instagram Live Club Quarantine sets.
