“I Don’t Need Any Sympathy” Deyjah Harris Opens Up About Her Own Experiences With Self-Harm To Help Others

 

Rapper T.I.’s daughter, Deyjah Harris has a testimony that could help others!

She commemorated Self-Harm Awareness Day (SIAD) with her own personal experience shared via an Instagram video that speaks to her own experiences with self-harm. Never one to shy away from the mental health conversation, this post from Harris gave a new personal, perspective in a message penned to her supporters. She also reminded those who many struggle with a similar feat that the journey is their own and that everything will be okay in the end.

“…For those of you that can relate (unfortunately)… I see you. Perhaps I had to experience this in order to be able to help someone else that is or will deal with this,” wrote the 20-year-old.

Harris did not go into details about her self-harm. Instead, she displayed her message alongside a photo of herself with visible cuts on her arm.

“I don’t need any sympathy, I don’t need any of you to try and guess why I did this to myself, I don’t need you to tell me things like “oh you shouldn’t do that to yourself, you’re too pretty for that” etc. because that will change nothing,” she continued. “All I need for you to do is simply speak and live in your truth like I always encourage you to do.”

Harris’s message was met with an outpour of positivity and support from the public, with many congratulating her on her bravery and her willingness to share her story in hopes that it will help those who struggle with self-harm.
