Drake Defends ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ to Disappointed Fans

“It’s All Good If You Don’t Get It Yet,” is Drake’s response to disappointed fans who share critiques of his latest album.

Drake has been the topic of fans’ conversation for the last week and a half. Last Friday the Toronto native released his seventh studio album, “Honestly, Nevermind” after teasing the project’s release just days prior. Credited as a ‘Dance’ genre album, “Honestly, Nevermind” was met with a number of negative reviews from critics.

After the Intro, the album’s opening song “Falling Back” immediately dove into a house music dance tune, setting the tone for the rest of the album as the rest of the track list fell in line. Fans quickly took to social media to give their reviews after hearing the album, expecting to hear the “Take Care” rapper’s usual hip-hop lineup.

The rapper quickly went to social media to defend his latest project, according to Complex who posted a video of Drake discussing the album’s reception at what appeared to be an album release party.

“It’s all good if you don’t get it yet. It’s all good. That’s what we do. That’s what we do. We wait for you to catch up. We’re in here though. We’re caught up already. On to the next. My goodness.” The “Degrassi” alum said.

Drake’s album comes at the heels of Beyonce’s latest album announcement last week. The “Lemonade” artist dropped a house music track “Break My Soul” which quickly received praise from the Beyhive who were excited to hear a new sound from the Houston native. The success of “Break My Soul” gave hope to Drake’s fanbase, with many citing house music the theme for Black Millennials this summer.
