Naomi Osaka officially has her own doll!
As a champion of racial justice, mental health advocate, and not to mention, tennis star, it was only right that she joins Mattel’s line of Barbie Role Model dolls.
This isn’t the first time, Osaka has had a doll hit the shelves. The 23-year-old was honored with a one-of-a-kind Barbie shero for the brand’s 60th anniversary in 2019.
After the doll sold out, fans were distraught. Now the toy brand is back with a new version of the doll.

“It’s such an honor to be a part of the Barbie Role Model series, and to remind young girls that they can make a difference in the world,” said Osaka in a press release. “I want young girls everywhere to feel empowered to dream big and to know that if they believe in themselves that anything is possible!”
The Barbie doll comes just as Osaka that she would not compete in the French Open and Wimbledon to focus on her mental health back in May.
She has quickly become an inspiration for people who want to put their mental health above their careers.
“I feel uncomfortable being the spokesperson or face of athlete mental health as it’s still so new to me and I don’t have all the answers,” wrote Osaka in an essay for “Time” magazine. “I do hope that people can relate and understand it’s O.K. to not be O.K., and it’s O.K. to talk about it. There are people who can help, and there is usually light at the end of any tunnel.”
Osaka is also set to represent Japan at the Tokyo Olympics later this month and is the subject of a Netflix docuseries that will highlight how her upbringing, her moments of self-doubt, and her triumphs on the court play into who she is as a person.
“I feel like the platform that I have right now is something that I used to take for granted, and for me, I feel like I should be using it for something,” said the tennis star in an official press release. “I believe, instead of following, you have to make your own path.”
The Naomi Osaka Barbie doll is now available for purchase on Amazon.
