Meagan Good Calls Her Divorce From Devon Franklin “The Most Painful Thing” She’s Ever Experienced

We’re still trying to process this split!

Late last year, one of our favorite couples, actress Meagan Good and her husband, famous author and preacher Devon Franklin announced their divorce via Instagram.

“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected,” said both Good and Franklin via their respective accounts. “We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love.”

More recently, Good did an interview with XONecole where she opened up a little more about their split, after nearly a decade of marriage.

“Throughout life, I’ve always approached relationships as understanding that at some point, they’ll get to the place that they’re going to, and then they would be over,” shared the “Waist Deep” actress.“I’ve always had an attitude of like, ‘Alright, next chapter. We’ll see what’s next,’ and being okay with that and appreciating what you give to someone and what they give to you and sharing a moment in time and in life that you never get back regardless of how it ends.”

The pair were engaged in April 2012 and officially tied the knot on June 16, 2012.

Since their relationship became known to the public, the couple quickly became a favorite Black celebrity couple. Many fans clung to her new preacher’s wife image—an image very opposite of the one she presented to the industry for years.

News of their divorce shocked fans, who were blindsided by the news. However, Good received an outpouring of love and support and even poked fun at some of the banter that the old version of herself has returned. During a recent trip to an LA Rams game, she sported a jersey that read “Miss Good if ya nasty.”

Despite the fun and games, Good says the divorce is “the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life”.

But, she remains optimistic about the trajectory of her life, married or not.

“Not everything makes sense to me right now, but I do trust God overall and I’m excited to see what this next act of life is going to be and what God has in store and that’s all I can really do but even in doing that, I do have gratitude and so much joy in my heart for these past 11 years that DeVon and I have been together,” she continued. “What he’s given into my life and what I was able to give to him, just everything.”
