The legacy of New Edition continues with the announcement of a 30-city tour!
In an official press release shared with aspireTV, the Black Promoters Collective reveal that the legendary group will embark on a tour next year featuring fellow R&B acts like Keith Sweat, Teddy Riley, Guy, and more!
“Few recording artists can attest to a superior 40-year career that stands the test of time, but New Edition can. When we partnered with NE for “The Culture Tour,” although I knew it would be stellar, their show exceeded my expectations; the guys were nothing short of miraculous,” said the company in an official statement. “We are excited about partnering with New Edition to further the legacy of the foundation they have already laid.”
As previously reported by aspireTV, all six members of the group will also reunite for a Las Vegas Residency following the tour.
New Edition captured the hearts of fans in 1983 with their debut album “Candy Girl,” and followed up with their hit sophomore project that featured hits like “Cool It Now” the next year.
Like any boy band, the group, originally formed with members and Boston natives, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivin, Ralph Tresvant, and Bobby Brown, have experienced their ups and downs, but one thing has always remained the same — the love that they have for each other and their fans.
Ultimately, the group would break off into solo acts, including Bobby Brown stepping out on his own after being voted out in 1985 and replaced with fellow crooner Johnny Gill. Just a few years later, DeVoe, Bell and Bivins formed the group, Bell Biv DeVoe, known for their smash hit “Poison.”
Ralph Tresvant also broke off and had a successful solo career topping the R&B charts with his smash single, “Sensitivity.”
Now, all six members are back like they never left and will be bringing some friends along to join in on the fun.
