Is Richard Sherman okay?
The NFL star was arrested on Wednesday morning (July 14), for a burglary domestic assault in Seattle.
While very few details have been made public about the incident, it was reported that someone called the police after a man attempted to enter a home where he did not reside.
It has since been reported that Sherman’s wife was the one who phoned the authorities. She allegedly called and reported that the former Seattle Seahawks player was threatening to take his life.
He also reportedly attempted to break into a family member’s home after a hit-and-run collision.
“I need officers to my house now,” said Moss during the 911 call. “My husband is drunk and belligerent and threatened to kill himself.”
During the call, Moss can be heard frantically pleading with the dispatcher to send officers right away. She also confronts Sherman while on the call, noting that she removed the keys from his car.
“He’s trying to leave now. He’s being aggressive. He’s wrestling with my uncle,” Moss continued. “He’s threatening to kill himself. He has sent text messages to people saying he’s going to hang himself. And he’s saying that if [the] police show up that — so please don’t shoot is what I’m asking.”
As she continues to plead with dispatchers for help, Moss manages to get out of the gate of their home.
According to the reports, his vehicle was found just about three miles from a home that belongs to his parents.
Currently, Sherman is facing a felony and has not been charged in relation to the hit-and-run. Moss wants the public to know that this is totally out of her husband’s character and that no one was harmed during the incident.
“At this time we’re going to make no statements, except he didn’t harm anybody,” Moss told the Seattle Times. “My kids were not harmed in the incident. He’s a good person and this is not his character. We’re doing all right, just trying to get him out. I want people to know [that] no one was injured.”
We hope everything is okay with Richard Sherman and send our thoughts to his family during this time.
