Sherri Shepherd Could Soon Become A Permanent Host Of The Wendy Williams Show

It looks like they are one step closer to naming a new host of  The Wendy Williams Show.

Deadline reports that Sherri Shepherd is currently in talks to take over as the show’s permanent host following an assortment of lead guest hosts since the start of the show’s 13th season. The move comes as the veteran talk show host, Wendy Williams, continues to recover from ongoing health issues.

Shepherd, along with fellow actor Michael Rapaport, took the lead in potential hosts for the show while a few familiar faces have continued to fill in during Williams’ absence.

The most recent guest host list for February includes Shepherd and Rapaport along with Fat Joe, Remy Ma as well as Bevy Smith and Terence J.

With the pending deal for Shepherd to take over as the host of the show, reports claim that the move could be followed by an official new name for the show, which has been a staple for Fox since its inception in 2008.

Should Shepherd be named a permanent host, this will mark her return as a full-time daytime talk show host. Previously she was a co-host on “The View” for seven years.

Williams’ road to recovery continues and her team has confirmed that she will not return to the show this season. Her pending work schedule is still to be determined.
