T-Pain puts it all on the table.
In the upcoming Netflix series, “This Is Pop,” the rapper shares what caused him to fall into years of depression.
He shared that it was actually a friend that led to a very painful moment in his life – a friend that we all know.
“Usher was my friend,” explained the “Buy U A Drank,” emcee. “I really respect Usher. And he said, ‘I’m gonna tell you something, man. You kinda f***ed up music.”
At first, he thought that the “Confessions” singer was joking until he reiterated his comments.
“And then he was like, ‘Yeah, man, you really f***ed up music for real singers,'” T-Pain continued. “I was like, ‘What did I do? I came out and I used Auto-Tune.'”

“He was like, ‘Yeah, you f***ed it up,” T-Pain continued. “‘I’m like, ‘But I used it, I didn’t tell everybody else to start using it.'”
The Tallahassee native says it wasn’t until after the fact that he realized that this moment caused him years of depression.
“That is the very moment, and I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me,” T-Pain shared.
T-Pain is a national treasure, we are so glad that he made it out of such a dark time!
