Beyoncé is ready to take the industry by storm once again!
Looming in on her 40th birthday, a new era of Beyoncé is on the rise! The singer made social media headlines after gracing not one, but three covers of Harper’s Bazaar for their September “Bazaar Icons” Issue. Photographed in western, cowboy-esque pieces, the Texas native shared her experiences on the origins of her work ethic, her mother’s influence on how to professionally navigate in her career, and most importantly, preserving her mental and physical health.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been intentional about setting boundaries between my stage persona and my personal life…” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “Before I started, I decided that I’d only pursue this career if my self-worth was dependent on more than celebrity success… I’ve surrounded myself with honest people who I admire, who have their own lives and dreams and are not dependent on me.”
These honest people Queen Bey referenced are women such as her mother Tina Knowles, who young Beyoncé watched assist and nurture customers in her hair salon growing up, her Destiny’s Child groupmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams who the entertainer says are still her best friends. She also shouts out her younger sister, the creative and innovative Solange, whom Bey described as “strong, grounded” and “the dopest person I know.”
The “Beychella” performer also shared the different ways she administers self-care after nearly twenty years in the spotlight.
“I have felt the pressure of being the backbone of my family and my company and didn’t realize how much that takes a toll on my mental and physical well-being,” said the Grammy award-winning singer. “I’ve personally struggled with insomnia from touring for more than half of my life. Years of wear and tear on my muscles from dancing in heels… I know that to give the best of me, I have to take care of myself and listen to my body.”
The singer now focuses on what she feeds her mind and her body and paying attention to the signs that her body gives. Bey creates positive rituals “drawing from past generations and putting my own spin on things.” She has even discovered CBD on her last tour, treating her body for soreness and inflammation and helping with the restless nights that her insomnia brings her. She has also passed down the practice of using holistic remedies to her children, taking advantage of its healing properties.
“One of my most satisfying moments as a mom is when I found Blue one day soaking in the bath with her eyes closed, using blends I created, and taking time for herself to decompress and be at peace.” The Parkwood Entertainment founder stated.
So what can fans expect from Queen Bey now?
“I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible,” she said. “Yes, the music is coming!”
