Queen Elizabeth has broken her silence following Sunday’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” read a statement released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of the queen.” The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
In the statement, it also says that “Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
A royal source tells CNN that the family wanted to allow viewers in the UK to watch the interview before issuing a statement.

The two-hour conversation revealed what happened behind closed doors over the last few years. One particular instance left Oprah, mouth wide open, in shock.
Oprah asked Meghan why she and Prince Harry’s son, Archie would not be made a prince and whether race played a factor in the decision.
“I can give you an honest answer,” said Meghan. “In those months when I was pregnant, all around the same time — we had in tandem the conversation of ‘He’s not gonna be given security, he’s not gonna be given a title,’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
It was this revelation that left us all in shock.
“There were several conversations about it [with me] and Harry…and what that would mean or look like,” continued Meghan.
When asked who brought the color of Archie’s skin into question, Meghan’s responded, “I think that would be very damaging to them.”
Oprah being Oprah, she was determined to get to know who asked such an alarming question. She asked Prince Harry the same question once he joined the interview.
Prince Harry also declined to give further details on the situation. However, he hinted at the advisors that surround the family who has been in place for a long time and are part of the hierarchal structure.
During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Oprah confirmed that it was neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Philip who made the racist comments about little Archie.

“He did not share the identity with me, but he wanted to make sure I knew and if I had the opportunity to share that it was not his grandmother [Queen Elizabeth] nor his grandfather [Prince Philip] that were apart of those conversations,” Oprah told Gayle King.
While yesterday’s interview was filled with a lot of lows from the couple’s time in the Royal Family, we did have a glimpse of joy. They shared the gender of their baby with the world.
“It’s a girl,” beamed Meghan and Prince Harry when asked the sex of their unborn child.
We are hoping for a nod to Princess Diana when it comes to names, but most importantly, we’re hoping for a happy, healthy baby. We wish Prince Harry and Meghan Markle all the best as they continue to navigate their new life outside of the Royal Family bubble.
