How far is too far when it comes to a spouse interfering with your career?
For R&B star Muni Long, it was the chance to collab with Drake that sent her ex-boyfriend into a jealous rage.
“That one time in 2008 I missed out on a Drake feature because my bf at the time found out he was pulling up to the studio and flew into a jealous rage so I chickened out and quit responding to his texts,” said Muni in a TikTok video caption as she applied lipstick inside of her vehicle.
While Muni Long has been in the industry for decades, helping to co-write some of the biggest hits for hot names in music, last year she made waves in the spotlight thanks to her TikTok certified smash “Hrs and Hrs.”
In fact, the song peaked at No. 16 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and became the singer’s biggest hit to date in her career. In March she landed a deal between her label, Supergiant Records, and Def Jam.
She further explained what led to the opportunity with Drake that she missed out on.
“I recorded a cover of ‘Best I Ever Had’ where I like played it on the guitar, sang it instead of rapped it,” said the 33-year-old singer/songwriter. “That went viral so much so that Drake reached out to me. And he was like, ‘Yo, I love what you did with the song.’ He gave me his number, we’re talking. Mind you now, I’m just out of high school. You know?”

It was a huge moment for the aspiring singer who grew up watching the Toronto emcee in his hit series, “Degrassi,” where he played the infamous Wheelchair Jimmy.
“And I was watching him on ‘Degrassi’ when I was in middle school and high school. So I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is Aubrey Graham. This is amazing! Wheelchair Jimmy,” Long continued. “I remember talking to him back then, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m an actor. I’m trying to get into music. I did this mixtape for Valentine’s Day. Didn’t really take it serious. People love it. I’m singing. Lil Wayne wants to sign me.'”
Hopefully, there’s still time for that collaboration between the two!
