Vision Boards, Rest, And Celebrations: Resolutions To Transform Your New Year

The holiday season is about much more than baking delicious treats and quality time with family; it is also the time of the year when people get into reflection mode, planning what they want the new year to look like.

Let’s admit it: every year, New Year’s resolutions are filled with aspirations like working out, eating healthier, or even finally cutting off that toxic ex. It’s a time when people start to focus on a new version of themselves, which can be overwhelming whether folks want to admit it.

As you look ahead toward 2025, aspireTV has compiled a list of a few things that may be worth adding to that resolution list for the year.

Make a Vision Board

If you want to get biblical about it, Habakkuk 2:2-3 instructs us to “write the vision and make it plain,” which is why entering or starting the new year with a vision board is the perfect way to get a jumpstart on aligning with the goals you have in mind for 2025. All you need is a poster board, old magazines, scissors, glue, and a clear and sound mind! Pinterest is also a great resource if you want to take the digital vision board route.

Prioritize Rest Without Guilt

Oftentimes, we have a habit of saying, “I’ll rest when I complete XYZ,” but in the new year, we implore you to be reminded that rest is your birthright, not a luxury. Carving out time to reset doesn’t need to come at the end of the year, so for 2025, let’s move differently and take time for ourselves at the first indication because we all know that your body will sit you down if you don’t do it yourself!

Celebrate Your Wins – Big and Small!

Outside of your birthday, when was the last time you invited folks around or took the time to celebrate yourself? If you can’t think of an answer, Houston, we may have a problem, but at least it’s not one we’ll be taking with us into the new year. Whether weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even daily, find even the most mundane things to celebrate. Oh, you went to the gym before work? That’s cause for a celebration. You organized that closet space you’d been putting off for forever? Cue the cake and candles!

Nourish Your Body And Spirit

Whether you’re starting the year with a spiritual cleanse or fast or taking a break from social media for a bit, this may be one of the number one goals of the year because one cannot pour from an empty cup. It is essential to take the time to assess if the things you are consuming align with your vision for your life, and that starts with monitoring what you are feeding your soul.

Invest In Your Dreams And The Dreams Of Others

Instead of placing your passions on the back burner in 2025, what things must be at the top of your list? No one can believe in your dreams and aspirations for yourself more than you do, so whether it’s starting that business plan or doing a test run of the products you wish to sell on Etsy, be like Nike and do it!

Also, every year is a good year to invest in the dreams of others, whether they be friends or strangers, especially if they’re Black. Let’s continue to pour into those Black-owned and often small businesses that serve as the pillars of our community.
