We had the pleasure of interviewing Biff Smith, the inaugural season winner, to learn more about his journey to victory and his aspirations for the future.

One of the toughest weeks for Biff during the competition was when he had to prepare duck on the grill, a task he had never tackled before. “I had to seriously do some studying about different cooking methods of duck,” Biff admits. This challenge tested his versatility and determination, ultimately contributing to his growth as a grill master.

Biff’s most memorable moment came when he won the first round of the competition. “I felt a complete feeling of accomplishment, humbleness, gratitude, and excitement,” he says. This victory set the tone for the rest of the competition and fueled his confidence.

For all the aspiring grill masters at home, Biff offers these invaluable tips:

1. Always know the temperature of your fire.
2. Never rush to cook your barbecue.
3. Turn your meat constantly to give it an even coat of cooking.

Looking ahead, Biff has big dreams. “I would love to possibly host a cooking show. I would also like to teach barbecue to the youth and aspire to obtain several food trucks to give people the experience of tasting good barbecue across the country,” he reveals. His passion for barbecue extends beyond competition, aiming to inspire and educate the next generation of grill masters.

Biff’s barbecue journey has been deeply influenced by his family. “The person or people that have been the biggest influence and inspiration in my barbecue journey would have to be my mother, my uncles, and my grandfather. They showed me and taught me that cooking good barbecue comes from the soul. The wholesomeness of your cooking and the care that you put into it makes it possible for it to be good,” he reflects. Biff Smith’s victory on “Hustle Sizzle and Smoke” is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for barbecue. His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring grill masters everywhere.
